What happens at PMA Sleep Center?
As the region’s largest AASM accredited facility, PMA Sleep Center offers the medical training, clinical expertise and quality diagnostic services designed to best help you manage your sleep disorder.
During your first visit to the Pulmonary Medicine Associates Sleep Center, our physicians and staff will conduct an interview to determine if tests are necessary. Please bring any results you have from previous sleep studies with you.
If a sleep study is prescribed, you will spend one or two nights at the Center to monitor your sleep patterns. These all-night sleep recordings, called polysomnograms, provide critical information in diagnosing and treating sleep problems. Sleep observations will occur in a comfortable, private room. While sleeping, your heart rate, body movements, brain activity, breathing and other functions will be monitored. The procedure is neither painful nor claustrophobic, and does not prevent you from getting a regular night's sleep.
During your follow-up visit to PMA Sleep Center, a physician will discuss your tests results. A full report of the findings and recommendations will be sent to your personal physician. Our staff will remain available for the long-term management of your diagnosis, if necessary.
